A total of 47 poor and meritorious students, who are studying in different colleges and universities of the country, received stipend of TK 7.05 lakh from Sonali Bank Limited (SBL) on March 09, 2016.
The SBL, a state run scheduled bank, distributed the stipend to the brilliant students to help run their studies without hardship as part of its Social Corporate Responsibility (CSR), bank sources said.
A simple function organized by SBL principal office of the town here on March 09, 2016 (Tuesday) afternoon with its assistant general manager Amrendra Nath Biswas in the chair.
General Manager (GM) of SBL, Rangpur Mahbubur Rahman attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and deputy general manager of SBL here Engineer Mahbubar Rahman was present at the event as the special guest.
Learners Monjurul Islam and Khaleda Akter Mina of Rajshahi University also spoke at the function, among others while senior officer of SBL here M. Quamruzzaman Zia was the moderator.
GM M. Mahbubur Rahman in his speeches urged the students to be serious and studious more to make brilliant results in all exams and lead the country towards desired development by using their merits in future.
Later, the chief guest formally handed over the cheques of stipend to the students. Each of students received Taka 15,000. A number of bank officials and employees, beneficiary students, guardians, and invited guests including journalists were present on the occasion.
